Spatial ecology of free-roaming dogs (ongoing)

Location

Maloti-Drakensberg Mountains, South Africa

I use accelerometry and telemetry data to study the spatiotemporal patterns of owned free-roaming dogs. I am interested in how their movements are shaped by biological needs, environmental conditions, and their roles in human communities, including guarding households and livestock. These dogs live at the interface between domestic and wild species, and their movement patterns can play an important role in shaping local ecologies and mediating multispecies connections among humans, domestic animals, and wildlife.
